AHEPA Expresses Sorrow over Passing of George E. Paraskevaides
A Philanthropist and Longtime Friend of AHEPA, the Global Hellenic Community
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ike Gulas, international president of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), the leading association for the nation’s 1.3 million Americans of Hellenic heritage, and Philhellenes, issued the following statement about the passing of Mr. Paraskevaides: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Paraskevaides Family. Over the years, he has shown us the true meaning of kindness and hospitality, and we will be forever grateful. He will be missed but never forgotten. May his memory be eternal.”
In 2006, AHEPA established the George E. Paraskevaides Philanthropic Award, which he subsequently received. AHEPA was established in 1922, by visionary Greek-Americans to protect all from prejudice originating from the KKK, and in its history, AHEPA has joined with the NAACP and B’nai B’rith International to fight discrimination. The mission of the AHEPA family is to promote the ideals of Hellenism, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility and family and individual excellence. For more information about AHEPA, or how to join, please contact AHEPA Headquarters, 202.232.6300, or visit www.ahepa.org. # # #
