REP TOM LANTOS PASSES AWAY

PLEASE CEASE H.RES. 356 CAMPAIGN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Rep. Tom Lantos

WASHINGTON, D.C. - We are saddened to learn of the passing of Rep. Tom Lantos, who was the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, from complications associated with esophageal cancer.

We admire his journey, from Holocaust survivor to 14-term member of Congress, where he became a leading voice and great champion of human rights. Furthermore, we appreciate the interest he took in issues affecting the American Hellenic community.

In Congress, he co-founded the Congressional Human Rights Caucus 24 years ago.

Our sympathies are with his family and colleagues in Congress.

Moreover, we want to thank our members for the high volume of emails and interest in H.Res. 356, FYROM, however, at this time we are asking all Ahepans to cease from sending any future correspondence to the Committee on Foreign Affairs until further notice.

We will review the situation and direct our membership accordingly, in the coming days.
