“We view this as a positive development,” said Gulas. “We have believed that Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots can co-exist harmoniously, and we welcome this news as a stepping-stone in the process for a solution. We share in the excitement of the Cypriot people; many of whom called it a historic day.”
He added, “We are cautiously optimistic that this is a sign of better things to come as preparations are being made for negotiations to resume after a four-year hiatus.”
