AHEPA Bone Marrow Registry

This program was originated by the Coral Gables Chapter No. 490 in 1990 when members of
Blood Donor Drive
The AHEPA Bone Marrow Registry Organizes Donor Drives Across the U.S.
the local AHEPA chapter were asked to donate a small test tube of blood to see if they would match the son of one of the members who was in need of a bone marrow transplant. It quickly became obvious that an even greater need existed and the AHEPA Bone Marrow Donor Registry was incorporated as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, under the AHEPA Charitable Foundation, with an established Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Board.

The AHEPA Bone Marrow Donor Registry has a dual function and purpose:

  1. To educate and recruit new potential marrow donors.
  2. To coordinate the entire search process both nationally and internationally for patients in need of an unrelated donor.
