Bone Marrow Registry
This program was originated by the Coral Gables Chapter No. 490 in 1990 when members of | The AHEPA Bone Marrow Registry Organizes Donor Drives Across the U.S. | the local AHEPA chapter were asked to donate a small test tube of blood to see if they would match the son of one of the members who was in need of a bone marrow transplant. It quickly became obvious that an even greater need existed and the AHEPA Bone Marrow Donor Registry was incorporated as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, under the AHEPA Charitable Foundation, with an established Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Board. The AHEPA Bone Marrow Donor Registry has a dual function and purpose: - To educate and recruit new potential marrow donors.
- To coordinate the entire search process both nationally and internationally for patients in need of an unrelated donor.
