WASHINGTON - The AHEPA Congressional Banquet will return to Washington, DC in 2013, announced Supreme President Dr. John Grossomanides. The 40th Biennial Congressional Banquet will be held Wed., May 22, 2013 at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel, Washington.

"We are excited for the return of the Congressional Banquet to our nation's capital," said Dr. Grossomanides. "We have a terrific team in place to organize a special day of events. Please save the date, share it with the community, and encourage all to participate and support the banquet, which will honor excellence in the community."

According to Dr. Grossomanides, the Supreme Lodge will recognize community excellence in public service, military service, and philanthropy at the banquet.

AHEPA Board of Trustees Vice Chairman Lee Millas, Trenton, N.J., will chair the Congressional Banquet.

Capitol Hill Day Planned

AHEPA will also plan to hold its annual Capitol Hill Day the morning of May 22, 2013. "Capitol Hill Day brings the community's leaders from across the United States to Washington to discuss issues of importance to the American Hellenic community with members of Congress," said Dr. Grossomanides. "It has grown significantly over the past several years, and I commend the community for its commitment to make this event an effective and successful one. In 2013 Capitol Hill Day becomes even more important the community, especially because a new Congress will be in place. I encourage the community's participation as we work to fulfill a key component of AHEPA's mission -- civic responsibility."
