Dear AHEPA Family & Friends:
It is with great frustration and sadness that we ask for your help to rally community support to pressure the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to cut the nine years of bureaucratic red tape that has blocked the reconstruction of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church at the port authority's promised site at Ground Zero -- 130 Liberty Street.
Negotiations between the Port Authority and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America have come to a stand-still and AHEPA has pledged to activate our grassroots network of chapters, members and supporter to demand negotiations continue.
AHEPA has sent a letter to the Port Authority, and is working with the appropriate governmental officials to lend their voices to the issue. Update: Representatives Carolyn Maloney and Timothy Bishop weigh in!
