The Maids of Athena Grand Lodge hosted its first national event last weekend in the Windy City, attracting members of the Maids of Athena and Sons of Pericles from across the U.S. and Canada!

In addition to bonding, they supported MOA Grand President Ally Tsenekos’ President’s Project Girls on the Run, an organization that inspires girls to build confidence and life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and physical activity, by working a Girls on the Run Chicago 5K. They helped to set up the race, check in participants, cheered them on, and helped hand out medals to them as they finished, allowing for them to participate and see how the organization benefits girls first hand.

Other weekend activities included a boat cruise that examined the architecture of Chicago and exploration of the city as a whole. The weekend culminated in a group service project in which the attendees put together activity bags for the MOA & SOP joint National Project, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and donated them to the local Boys & Girls Club.
