Major Acts of Philanthropy Spearheaded by the AHEPA Family

$10,000 raised for Operation USO Care Package program in 2003  USO Logo

AHEPA raised over $150,000 for 9/11 Relief

  • $50,000 to the September 11th Anniversary Fund
  • $25,000 to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund
  • $25,000 to help rebuild St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, New York
  • $10,000 to the Pentagon Memorial Relief Fund
  • $40,000 donated by chapters to various local, regional, and national relief agencies

 

$110,000 was raised for the George C. Marshall Statue, erected on the grounds of the U.S. Embassy in Athens in 2000

$229,000 for victims of the September 7, 1999 earthquake that struck Athens that benefited:

  • The Hellenic Red Cross (Sonar Equipment and Transport Mini-Van purchased)
  • Evangelismos Hospital, Athens (purchased an ambulance)
  • Child Day-Care Center for the citizens of the municipality of Menidi

 

Over $400,000 donated from 1986 to 1991 for Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Restoration,
earning special recognition by the United States Department of the Interior.

U.S. War Bond Drive, World War II, AHEPA raised over $162 million.

Late 1940s saw seven AHEPA Health Centers become operable, including the AHEPA Wing of the Evangelismos Hospital.

In 1951, AHEPA Hospital at Thessaloniki dedicated.

Completed AHEPA Hall for Boys, St. Basil's Academy, with $92,000 raised in late 1950.

AHEPA School Building, St. Basil's Academy, completed in 1962, $245,000 donated.

Dedication of three more AHEPA Hall for Boys, St. Basil's Academy, 1981, $1.5 million donated.

Other Projects Include

Over 80 senior citizen housing projects (HUD 202) receiving over $500 million in federal grants

The $775,000 “Tribute” sculpture in Atlanta Olympic Centennial Park erected in 1996

 

 

The AHEPA Educational Foundation contributes over $2 million to scholarship awards and endowment funds at the local, district and national levels.

AHEPA family immediately raised $50,000 in aid and countless additional efforts to the victims of the Hurricane Katrina in October 2005.

AHEPA annually supports the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America by contributing financial and human resources on an annual basis.
