This Week For Greeks! - Vol.2 Issue 19 - Monday, May 26, 2008
A Message from the Supreme President
Brothers,
Over AHEPA's proud 86-year history, many of our members have served in the Armed Forces. Some have seen live action-from World War II on through to the current War on Terror. And sadly, we've had members who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and liberty in defense of our nation.
This Memorial Day I would ask every one of in the AHEPA Domain to take a moment and remember those who gave their lives for the United States. In the Metro DC area, local chapters will place wreaths on the grave-markers of the near 500 Greek-Americans who are buried at Arlington National Cemetery; as has been the tradition for decades. Moreover, next week, AHEPA will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is a tradition we have proudly performed annually since 1924 . Please make it a point to remember our fallen heroes this weekend.
AHEPA members in service to our country are in our thoughts and prayers, God Bless you all!
Fraternally,

Ike Gulas, Supreme President

Greeks of the Week!
Our Brave Members of the Armed Forces
Each year on Memorial Day, Ahepans journey to the Arlington National Cemetery to place flowers on the graves of our brothers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms. This week, as AHEPA honors them, we ask that you join us in also honoring our brave soldiers, past and present, Greek and non-Greek, who continue to place themselves in harm's way for our security and way of life.
Please join AHEPA in our sincere gratitude for the contributions and sacrifice of the members of the U.S. Armed Forces and in honoring each of them as this week's Greeks of the Week!
Who's Your Greek of the Week?
There are many heroes in our community who often sadly go unrecognized. You can help. Nominate someone to be AHEPA's Greek of the Week! Simply email a short, detailed nomination, along with a digital photo of them to webmaster@ahepa.org.
