Dear Brothers:

More than 125 Ahepans from New Jersey, New York, and Delaware assembled in Montvale, N.J. at Eleni's Pancake House where Supreme Governor Louie Arvanitis coordinated a District No. 5 initiation ceremony on Friday, December 5, 2008. Thirty-eight new Ahepans were initiated in a number of chapters. Supreme Secretary Dr. John Grossomanides, Jr., Supreme Treasurer Anthony Kouzounis, and Supreme Governor Arvanitis officiated over the ceremony. Joining these brothers were AHEPA Board of Trustee member Lee Millas and Executive Director Basil Mossaidis. The "Makaronada" night was a sold-out event and tremendous success. Dr. Grossomanides provided an update on AHEPA projects and programs that benefit the community. A wonderful night of fellowship was had by all.

On Saturday, December 6, 2008 AHEPA Chapter No. 405, New Rochelle, N.Y., held a mass initiation ceremony at the beautiful West Chester Country Club in Rye, N.Y. Supreme Vice President Nicholas A. Karacostas was joined by Supreme Secretary Dr. John Grossomanides, Jr., Supreme Treasurer Anthony Kouzounis, Supreme Governor Louie Arvanitis, and other national AHEPA leaders for the successful affair. Chapter No. 405 initiated 17 new members into the Order, and the Order's good works were on display. Following the initiation, the chapter hosted a tremendous testimonial luncheon for AHEPA National Educational Foundation Chairman Joe Keane. More than 150 persons attended the testimonial.

AHEPA is the largest Greek-American association in the world with chapters in the United States, Canada, Greece, Cyprus, and sister chapters in Australia and New Zealand. It was established in 1922 by visionary Greek Americans to protect Hellenes from prejudice originating from the KKK, and in its history, AHEPA joined with the NAACP and B'nai B'rith International to fight discrimination.
