Dear AHEPA Family and Friends:

Flooding in Fargo: AP Photo

Over its history, the AHEPA family has responded to those in need following devastating natural disasters. Most recently, of course, the AHEPA family provided natural disaster relief to the families and victims of Greece's wildfires.

We would like to bring to your attention two recent natural disasters that have adversely affected our fellow citizens and friends of the AHEPA family.

First, our fellow citizens of North Dakota, already reeling from historic flooding over the past few weeks, are preparing for a second cresting of the Red River. We encourage our districts, chapters, and members to keep these folks in mind as they prepare for a second crest in mid-April. The American Red Cross, Minn-Kota Chapter, is accepting donations.

During the past few years, we have joined with our good friends at the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), to properly honor and commemorate the work of Constantino Brumidi, the Artist of the Capitol, who shares Italian and Greek heritage. NIAF was kind to make an appeal to its members to aid victims of Greece's wildfires. Now it is our turn to do the same in an effort to help our friends. NIAF has established a special relief fund to help the victims and their families who perished from the earthquake that has destroyed towns and villages and taken 250 lives.

In the spirit of our mission, we encourage you to give whatever you can to help these people in need during very difficult and trying times.

Supreme President Ike Gulas
Fraternally,

AHEPA is the largest Greek-American association in the world with chapters in the United States, Canada, Greece, Cyprus, and sister chapters in Australia and New Zealand. It was established in 1922 by visionary Greek Americans to protect Hellenes from prejudice originating from the KKK, and in its history, AHEPA joined with the NAACP and B'nai B'rith International to fight discrimination.

The mission of the AHEPA family is to promote the ancient Greek ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility and family and individual excellence through community service and volunteerism.

For more information about the AHEPA family, or how to join, please contact AHEPA Headquarters, (202) 232-6300, or visit www.ahepa.org.
